"At only 3 months old, Bug and her mother came to the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation (MHARF) as part of a humane case in southern Minnesota. Unfortunately, her mother didn't survive and Bug was left as an orphan. She was raised by MHARF and went into foster care when she was 1.5 years old and has been there ever since.
This year, Bug will be participating in MHARF's Trainer's Challenge of the Unwanted Horse and has been assigned to her trainer, Maddie Kanda. Bug and Maddie will be working together to teach her a variety of things every young horse should know, including how to stand for the vet/farrier, basic ground manners, how to stand to be groomed, how to load into a trailer, and how to be ridden both inside and outside of an arena. Bug and Maddie will start their 5 month journey on April 1st. Bug has had no training other than the very basics on the ground."
'Today was Bug's first day in pony boot camp! We worked on manners on the ground, cross tying, bit of desensitizing, and started learning how to parallel lunge. Bug is shedding like crazy so we will be doing a lot of grooming over the next few weeks! Please share our page with your family and friends!! Stay tuned for more updates..."
