Two months ago I was fortunate enough to be able to adopt my new horse. Her name is Mor Conga and she is an off the track Thoroughbred.
I found her earlier this year on a Thoroughbred rescue website and her beautiful face really got my attention. I checked on her and found out that she was not yet available. She needed surgery to both of her knees and was still in recovery and rehab. I asked if I could send her some goodies and in the course of the conversation found out that she was located just 45 minutes from my house. The decision was not hard.. I decided to go visit her.
I contacted several companies and there were several that provided me with donations of various items to take with me on my first visit.
Our first meeting was wonderful. She was not only beautiful, but also sweet natured and loved the attention.
Over the course of the next 4 months I went to visit her nearly every week. We spent time grooming, grazing and just enjoying each others company. At one time we were not sure if she'd ever be able to be adopted due to her old injuries, but thankfully she ended up being sound enough to be made available for adoption.
On Labor Day of this year she officially came to join my little herd. I am so very grateful that I found her. She is a joy to have around and I look forward to our future together.
Congratulations to our contest's runner-up, Tasha Brady, who recently bought her long-time lease horse, Scotty:
I am thankful for my barn friends/trainer who has been supportive me and my decisions in my horse life over the years and i'm thankful for a wonderful person who sold me my first horse who happens to be my once in a lifetime horse. Never did I picture myself owning him.
Congratulations to Ute and Tasha, and THANK YOU to all who entered!
